I finished my first podcast for my online PR class and I have to admit I rather enjoyed the experience. I was quite nervous about the assignment as I have no experience editing audio or even using an iPod for that matter. The process proved to be pretty straight forward. Once we found an iPod that was compatible with the microphone we had, it was as simple as plugging in and pressing record.
I feel that podcasting is a more appropriate area of social media for me and my personality. Where I feel I have yet to develop the appropriate expertise to have a worthwhile blog, with podcasting I am able to interview and have conversations with those who do have expertise. I prefer to research and tap into other sources as a way to develop a knowledge base and share information. Perhaps, after I have worked in public relations for long enough that I have developed a solid knowledge of the field, I will return to the world of blogging.

Tara, I have the same sentiments as you when it comes to blogging (as apparent on my first blog post). I think that if someone is to blog and put information out there to share with others, the most important thing is to have something worth saying. Otherwise it is simply the useless ramblings of someone with too much time on their hands.
I found our experience with the podcast, to be a positive one as well.
It was very surprising how easy it actually was. I think that perhaps one of the reasons that many shy away from such mediums is because to the novice, it comes across as slightly intimidating. I do wonder, though, whether some of these social media froms, such as the podcast, are here to stay?
It will be interesting to see what new methods will be introduced to us over time. I myself find the world of social media very intimidating, especially as a budding P.R. professional. I also find myself conflicted; though blogging and such seems necessary to advance in this field, I am very openly opposed to it. I guess sometimes you simply gotta do wht you gotta do.
